dream drop delivery
i’ve been writing a story for years now. it’s been hard to keep up, but maybe it’s time to finally share something.
the story is called dream drop delivery.
it follows a girl named jubilee, an eccentric, soft hearted courier who drifts between worlds collecting lost dreams and delivering them to where they belong. alongside with her, a spirit in training who guides her through the dreamstream. together, they move through fleeting moments and forgotten wishes, turning small, ordinary hopes into something magical before they disappear.
volume concept: the wishborne festival
in this volume of dream drop delivery, the story unfolds around a massive magical celebration known as the wishborne festival, a rare event where wishes and dreams become more than just whispers to the stars. for one enchanted night, dreams gain form, possibility, and power.
this volume is told through five interconnected perspectives, each following a different character who sends off a deeply personal dream during the festival. their stories interlace, creating a larger mosaic of hope, regret, love, and wonder.
✧ the festival
the wishborne festival is a breathtaking celebration filled with music, floating lights, and dream touched rituals. during this sacred night, people inscribe their dreams on special objects called dream vessels, which are believed to carry their wishes into the dreamstream, a hidden magical current that flows between worlds.
dream vessels can take many whimsical forms:
✧ floating lanterns or candle boats set adrift on rivers and ponds
✧ paper airplanes launched into the sky
✧ origami cranes and stars left on windowsills
✧ wishes tied to glowing wish trees
✧ shells whispered into and cast into the sea
✧ bottled dreams placed gently into ocean tidepools
✧ balloon bundles with messages that drift into the clouds
etc
at the heart of the festival is a beloved phrase passed from generation to generation:
“no dream is too small, nor too strange, nor too late. every dream comes in its due time.”
✧ enter: dream drop delivery
that’s where jubilee comes in.
she’s one of the dream drop delivery couriers, magical messengers who collect these dream vessels from the dreamstream and help guide them to where they’re meant to go. most of the year, her work involves little miracles, delivering a lost photograph, a love letter across the sea, a forgotten melody to someone who needs to remember. but during the wishborne festival, the stream surges with immense power, and even impossible dreams, like speaking to someone who’s gone, stopping time for a moment, or making it rain literal cats and dogs, might come true.
but this power comes with urgency. jubilee and the other couriers have only a limited window to fulfill these dreams before the stream fades and the vessels scatter.
✧ the companion and the dreamstream
jubilee’s loyal companion, a small black cat with glowing portal wings. she is a spirit in training. once she earns enough achievement marks, she may ascend into the realm of delivery spirits, the ethereal place where all fulfilled dreams are stored, guarded, and remembered.
the dreamstream itself is a mystical river that exists between planes invisible to ordinary eyes. it weaves through sky, sea, and sleep, drawing in the dream vessels like stars into orbit.
✧ the twist
but this time, something goes wrong.
one of the five featured characters sends out a dream vessel twisted by fear, grief, or desperation, and it goes astray, morphing into something dangerous. if delivered unchecked, it could warp reality in frightening ways. jubilee, with her cat companion, must intercept the corrupted dream mid journey and find a way to either purify it or unravel the wish at its source.
the other four dreams, while more heartfelt and hopeful, still require delicate guidance. jubilee’s journey through this one magical night becomes a race against time, weaving five lives together in a story of healing, chance, and cosmic timing.
✧ names and concepts for the five dreamers
each character represents a different kind of wish, one hopeful, one regretful, one full of longing, one whimsical, and one that turns dangerous.
chia, a soft spoken florist who wishes to see the sister she lost contact with after a falling out years ago. her dream vessel is an origami lotus placed in a river.
oliver, a delivery boy from a rival service who secretly dreams of becoming a stage magician. he sends off a paper airplane with a trick deck of cards attached.
poppy, an elderly woman who lives alone and wishes for one more conversation with her late husband. she places her dream inside a music box and sets it out with a balloon.
koi, a mischievous child who just wants to turn the entire town into candy for a day. she ties her wish to a taffy wrapped bottle and drops it in the sea.
solara, an artist overwhelmed by envy and fear of failure. she wishes, unknowingly, that her rival would lose their talent. she folds the wish into a crow feathered origami and burns it over a river, its ashes drifting into the dreamstream.
solara’s wish becomes corrupted and a corrupted wish feeds off insecurity and self loathing. when it enters the dreamstream, it mutates.
the dream begins unmaking things. small talents vanish from people in town, a singer forgets how to sing, a child can’t draw anymore, a cook ruins everything they touch. artworks begin to blur and dissolve, as if the town itself is forgetting how to imagine. the corrupted dream takes the shape of a massive drifting ink cloud that stains everything it touches, a literal fog of doubt and erosion.
to fix it, jubilee may need to find solara and help her rewrite her dream, or dive directly into the corrupted vessel and face the manifested doubt inside it.
